Volunteer
Volunteer Duties: What you can do to help!
Competition and football season:
This is the busiest part of the year; it's a wonderful time to get involved, as there are many moving parts. Because the football team is nice enough to provide entertainment before and after the band's halftime performance, it is important that we do a good job of ensuring everything runs smoothly for everybody!
For any event, a schedule and timeline will be provided to students and sent to parents. Please plan to show up when the schedule states that students will be getting into uniform or loading the trucks or buses, depending on your selected volunteer spot. If all volunteer spots are full, and you would still like to help, you are more than welcome to come anyway; we will never turn away a parent who wants to be a part of everything.
Home Games-
Before the game:
Booster Volunteers assist the students with getting into uniform, fill the coolers with water and ice, assist students in moving props and equipment up to the field, and stage it all for the halftime show. Parent volunteers also set up and run the program table where we sell the football programs and other merchandise. Chaperones will also march up to the field with the band, help block traffic, and assist with crowd control while the band walks into the bleachers.
During the game:
Chaperones are needed in the stands to hand out water bottles to students, ensure non-band-member students stay out of the band section, especially during halftime and third period when the band is not in the stands, and help protect students' instruments while they are unattended.
Props and equipment: parent volunteers help the student get props onto the field, set up the pit and drum major podiums, and take them off the field after the show.
After the game:
Parent volunteers ensure the bands' equipment and props are returned to the band room and that nothing is left in the stands. They help students take off their uniforms and ensure they are hung properly and put away in the closet.
Competitions and Away games-
In addition to what we do for home games:
Chaperones ride the bus to and from the Comp/game, ensuring proper student conduct and that no trash or instruments are left on the bus.
Parent volunteers drive and load the trucks with all of the equipment, large instruments, and props to and from the comp/game, or pull the band trailer with the larger instruments, if the trucks are not being used. Once back at the school, they unload the trucks into the band's garage and band room.
Trucks
We will need parent volunteers who are able to pick up the trucks on Friday afternoon between 3:30 pm and 5 pm. Then, return the trucks no later than Sunday afternoon. YOU DO NOT NEED A CDL TO DRIVE THE TRUCKS.
